How successful have we been in saving the girl child?

The incidence of forced abortion of Manjeet Kaur of Jandi village reveals the true scenario of some rural parts of the country. Despite the many efforts made by the government to 'Save Girl Child' and many other organizations in the country incidents of Female Foeticide haven't stopped in many regions. It is a shame for our society that even in this modern age some people still consider a girl child as a curse. But the brutual assault and torture on the lady depicts the extent that some people can go to get rid of a girl child. It is just not a simple incident of aborting a girl child but an inhuman crime which has put a huge question mark on the safety of women within their own homes. Such incidents of violence and cruelty are becoming a common place and makes one wonder what are we becoming and where are we heading. Not just strict laws but their right implementation is important. But e ducation and awareness remain to be the crucial and initial steps in saving the gi

Incidents of Lynching are an issue of serious concern.

Increasing incidents of Lynching by mob in the name of alleged crimes like Cow Slaughter, etc. are becoming a cause of worries among the minorities. Mocking and then the killing of the 15 year old, Junaid Khan has been the most recent incident added tothe list. It has created an atmosphere of terror among the people of many communities especially among the Muslim people. A few people are creating a disturbance for all. Not everyone holds the same opinions and similar prejudice but the silence of the crowd is frightening. Hate crimes in any form should be strongely condemned in a country which prides itself for being secular and is the largest Democracy in the world. Authorities must look deeper into the problem and guilty should be punished. As people we need to speak up not only for ourself but also for our fellow citizens. We need to make sure such incidents do not happen in the future. It is important that everyone feels safe and continue to enjoy the rights we as a country c

Joy of seeing a NewBorn!!

I went to the hospital with mom just for the mere excitement and joy of seeing a newborn baby. When we reached there all her family members were anxiously waiting outside. Within a few minutes, we heard the sound of a baby's cry. For a moment everyone became silent to hear the sound. Then within a couple of minutes the nurse came out and informed that its a girl and both the baby and the mother are healthy.  Her family members took a sigh of relief and began congratulating each other. It was a good feeling to share their joy in that moment. I had cooked the food, the mother ate before giving birth to the child, so they said that the baby would be like me and I was happy. They knew I was excited to see the baby so after a few more minutes they told me I could go to see her. I finally got to go inside and see her. I was happy and she is very cute.  We are guessing she will be a tall and a healthy child. It is a small thing but will be a sweet memory. May God Bless her .
