My Piece for the day

Date - 30/08/17 Haah finally I can speak hello in Korean Annya - ha - se - yo. My mentor was teaching me from last two days but I could not speak it and I was like I will be the last one in the group to learn Korean. But today I learned it and I was so happy. For friends you can simply say Anneyong. I have also learnt to pronounce Onni, thats how we refer to our seniors in Korea. Now I know what to call my mentor. We went for a TB test today. There because of a previous group of Chinese exchange students, it got a bit delayed for us. Their mentor came to us and told us there had been a small misunderstanding and she apologised for the inconvenience. We were like its ok no problem. Suddenly she bent on her knees and apologised and we were like no no just don't do this its ok. All of us were like Oh my God. Date - 29/08/2017 Our first morning in Korea began with our friend's birthday. Sheetal is a part of our Student Exchange group from India alongwith Avinash, Anamika and Varsha. We wished her Happy Birthday in the midnight. Since we had nothing else we celebrated her birthday with a little of the snacks like chocolate and namkeen that we had in our room. Sujin took us to a bank, first thing in the morning so that we could exchange our money into Korean currency. Then we went us to a bakery where we bought a cake for Sheetal.  Then after doing our shopping we celebrated her Birthday with Sujin. The cake was delicious and I loved it. It was the tastiest cake I ever had. It was a new thing for Sujin to watch when we put a bit of the cream and cake on Sheetal's face. She was like people in your country don't mind it. Date -28/08/17 Today we finally left for South Korea in Asiana Airlines around 02:20 a.m. Since it was our first International flight all of us were excited and a bit tensed too. But then we realised the entire procedure was really simple and everything went well. We reached Incheon Airport in Seoul at 01:13 p.m. Incheon Airport is beautiful and I was really impressed. It is one of the best and most popular airports in the world. On gate one we recieved a warm welcome by the Gachon University students. On our way to the University we got to see a glimpse of Seoul, a port and the Seongnam city. It is indeed a beautiful country. One gets to see huge buildings and technology enabled things everywhere and also a lot of greenery all around. Sujin, our Mentor is very helpful, supportive and frieny. Date - 27/08/2017 I am an undergraduate student of Shoolini University. I am going for a Student Exchange Program in this semester to Gachon University in South Korea. Today with our flight from Dharamshala to Delhi my journey began. But actually this process started around three months back when I submitted my application and applied for the passport. I came across many hurdles in this process. When we were finally relaxed that everything has been done, situation in the neighbouring states got critical. We weren't worried so much about reaching Seoul as much as we were worried about reaching our National Capital to catch out flight. Finally, in the morning when our air tickets to Delhi got confirmed we finally took a sigh of relief. Our parents made sure despite all the odds we reach Delhi on time and everything goes smoothly. There are a few people who are really happy I chose to get into Journalism but there are just the double number of people who believe as a girl I should chose something else as a profession because its really hard and ethical people (especially girls) just can not survive and rise in Journalism. I know its tough, I have always known that. I know what they say is right, trust me I am not denying it. Rather than proving them wrong I am trying to prepare myself for it. But the point is there is not a single profession where everyone is ethical and professional. You can run into crisis anytime anywhere, all you need is the courage to fight back. Knowing my own self, probably five years down the line I will be doing something completely different from Journalism or probably I will stick to it. But the point is I know things and I understand. I haven't seen the world but I want to explore. Probably being into Journalism means there is a lot I will miss out on but the kind of experience...

I have been reading 'The Subtle Art of not giving a F**k' by Mark Manson for the past three days. I completed it today. This book is not just about how to prioritize things in Life but a lot more. It made me think about a lot of things. Although I still haven't got it all figured out but a few things in the book were in a way liberating. You may not agree with all the concepts of the book but it definitely is a good read. One thing I learnt from it was whatever happens to us is not always our fault but how we interpret and respond to the different situations and circumstances in our life is a choice we make and is definitely our responsibility. The past semester had been quite unsatisfying and unproductive in so many ways despite the little I achieved. I knew I was not giving my 100 percent. There were some circumstances and events I couldn't but still there was a lot I could do. But I just had been avoiding to take up the responsibility for it. I have decided to ta...

I had heard a lot about it but whenever I was asked if I would like to join the course I would refuse but this time a doctor from his own experience suggested me to join the course and learn Sudarshan Kriya. Since, it were my holidays and I had a lot of free time I finally decided to attend the Happiness program this time when I got the chance. There are a lot of things I learnt in the last four days but I felt there are so many things we know, we do apply them for a short while but do not make them a habit and I believe that consistency is the hardest part. I don't intend to implement everything I learnt in a day, week or a month but rather slowly and steadily. I am just committed to only one thing for now to continue Sudharshan Kriya. There have been a few people who have told me about their own experience.
