RICE Festival, Incheon

Today students from all the Korean Language classes went to a Field Trip to the 19th Rice Festival, Incheon.

In our teacher's group we were around a dozen people from India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Singapore, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

It was a perfect place to have a glimpse of the Korean folk and get an idea about its countryside. The Korean folk culture was beautifully depicted throughout the place.

Rice cakes and Korean traditional food, display of Korean village farms and handmade art, traditional games, puppet play and street performances are a few of the many things you can enjoy in the Incheon Rice festival.

Finally I also got to put on the Hanbok i.e. the Korean traditional dress. I was really eager to try on first. It is so pretty, I just love it especially the one for the girls.

Our Korean teacher also took special care so that I could have something Vegetarian food for lunch. I also tasted Rice Wine for the first time today.

We also tried making small brooms from  hay. Ladies sitting there were teaching people how to make one. A lot of stuff like slippers, cap, basket, purse, etc. made from hay was also displayed there as it used to be in the past.

Towards the end of our trip I just realized I had lost my dormitory card somewhere and got a little worried. But one of the other teachers saw it and kept with her. I was really relieved when she told me and later gave me.

This year I wasn't with my family on Diwali but had a memorable day. We also prepared Kheer in our Dormitory kitchen with dinner today.

I just wish anyone out there who is reading it a very Happy Diwali.

First Sunset in South Korea

Date- 01/09/2017 I love watching sunsets. In the evening I was feeling a little upset so just went to the ground. I walked a bit and then sat on the grass for a while. While sitting there, I noticed sun was about to set so I began to notice. I wasn't really in the mood and did not really enjoy it much but felt good to notice the sunset after long. I did not had much to do today. In the morning, we went for the Induction of Korean language class. Professor Park Sun Kyu is going to be our teacher for the Korean language class. Initially, I just hated the Korean language when I tried to speak a few Korean words through some apps back in India. But after coming here and learning a couple of words I am beginning to enjoy it. I also learnt how to introduce myself in Korean. Now I really want to learn Korean. I think its gonna be fun. Our classes will be starting from monday and I will be selecting my courses tomorrow. I am feeling really sleepy right now so good night guys. 😊 ...

A Worthy Road With Healing Escapes

With too much time to spend on the clock, my mind -- eyeing an excuse -- offcourse went roaming back in the forbidden lanes of the past, amidst the tales still healing from pain.   For most events, my dots do connect but maybe it's too early to number the same. A gentle reminder how I am best left in a tiring marathon. While I am definitely more aware than ever of my intentions and motivations; the journey itself is probably becoming an easing necessity. "What others see as a hustle is at times just an antidote at play." Until I am better equipped to truly let go of it all and before I am already too old for the same; I would rather just focus on my ambitions and take care of my dreams and deserving obligations.  Yes, books can still leave me sleepy when left in their company for too long. But, I guess I finally have my reasons to let them consume my whole. From the few things I had envisioned for myself; topping the list were dreams of a young and...

Strange...

Today I got to know something about Korea that I thought was really strange. Gambling is generally prohibted for Koreans. Hailey told us that there is a huge Cassino in Korea where Koreans are not allowed to enter. It is only for the Foreigners or Koreans that have an American citizenship. In case of many clubs the situation is completely opposite. Lawrence told us that there are a lot of clubs which are meant for Koreans only and Foreigners are not allowed there. I found it really weird because I don't think there is any such similiar thing in India.
